The Uttar Pradesh government has recently announced its ambitious plans to generate over 18,000 employment opportunities in the healthcare and pharmaceutical sectors. This initiative was unveiled during the Ground Breaking Ceremony (GBC 4.0) and is expected to not only boost economic growth but also enhance the healthcare infrastructure across the state.
The projects proposed encompass a wide range of ventures, including the establishment of medical universities, colleges, hospitals, multispecialty healthcare facilities, nursing and paramedical institutes, as well as pharmaceutical manufacturing units. One of the standout projects is the expansion of Bodhisattva Medical University in Barabanki, where the Bodhisattva Charitable Trust will invest Rs 200 crore to increase MBBS and PG seats from 150 to 250, generating 350 new jobs.
Furthermore, investments from various trusts and organizations in different districts of Uttar Pradesh are expected to create significant employment opportunities in the healthcare sector.
In addition, a substantial investment of over Rs 3300 crore is proposed for the opening and expansion of medical universities and colleges in the state. For instance, the establishment of a medical college and hospital by Shri Babu Singh Dadduji Educational Trust in Farrukhabad is expected to provide employment for 500 people.
Apart from medical institutions, the establishment of hospitals and multispecialty healthcare facilities is set to create thousands of job opportunities. Rs 575 crore has been allocated for hospitals, while a massive project involving multispecialty hospitals will require an investment of Rs 2000 crore, promising jobs for approximately 5,000 people.
The pharmaceutical sector is also expected to experience growth, with investments of around Rs 350 crore set to create 350 job opportunities. Projects such as the Pharmaceutical Manufacturing University in Kushinagar by ANI Drugs and Pharmaceuticals Industry, as well as the pharmaceutical manufacturing unit in Rae Bareli by Respa Pharma Pvt. Ltd., are anticipated to contribute to job creation in the sector.
Moreover, investments in nursing and paramedical institutes and colleges are anticipated to provide employment for nearly a thousand people. With projects like the NK Hospital Paramedical and Nursing College in Mainpuri and the Pharmacy College of Pharmaceutical Science and Technology in Shravasti, job opportunities in the healthcare and pharmaceutical sectors are set to see a significant surge across Uttar Pradesh.
In terms of individual projects, Sri Sai Hospital in Mau is currently constructing a 45-bed hospital with an investment of Rs 50 crore, which will generate employment for 20 to 30 people. Apex Welfare Trust in Mirzapur is initiating a hospital and college with an investment of Rs 325 crore, providing 50 job opportunities. Vansha Devi Charitable Hospital in Pratapgarh is establishing a hospital with an investment of Rs 50 crore, aiming to create employment for 100 people.
Shri Ramsahay Singh Shanti Singh Memorial Trust in Basti is investing Rs 50 crore to open a hospital, creating employment for 200 people. Chinmay Hospital is starting a multispecialty hospital with an investment of Rs 50 crore in Bhadohi, providing employment for 100 people. Yashoda Super Specialty Hospital in Ghaziabad is establishing a 1200-bed super-specialty Medcity with an investment of Rs 800 crore.
Furthermore, the government is also taking steps to build a pharmaceutical park and bulk drug park. Two major groups are investing approximately Rs 350 crore in the sector, which will create job opportunities for 350 people.
