BHIM (Bharat Interface for Money) is an Indian mobile payment app developed by the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI). It is based on the Unified Payments Interface (UPI) and was launched on December 30, 2016. BHIM allows users to send or receive money to or from UPI payment addresses, or to non-UPI based accounts (by scanning a QR code with account number and IFS code or MMID code).

Purpose

The app is designed to facilitate e-payments directly through banks, promoting cashless transactions across India.

Compatibility and Functionality

  • Bank Support: BHIM supports all Indian banks that use UPI, allowing users to instantly transfer money between any of the member banks.
  • Infrastructure: The app operates on the Immediate Payment Service (IMPS) infrastructure, ensuring quick and secure transactions.
