The Uttar Pradesh Public Service Commission (UPPSC) has released the exam date for the Combined State/Senior Subordinate Services (Prelims) Examination-2024, also known as PCS (Pre). The exam will be held across 41 districts in the state on December 7 and 8, 2024. The exams will take place in two shifts: from 9:30 am to 11:30 am and from 2:30 pm to 4:30 pm. This decision was made due to the insufficient number of exam centers meeting the required standards, despite extensive efforts to secure suitable locations in each district.

Additionally, the Review Officer/Assistant Review Officer (Prelims) Examination-2023 is set for December 22 and 23. This exam will be held in two sessions on December 22—first shift from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm and second shift from 2:30 pm to 5:30 pm—and a single session from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm on December 23 in various districts across the state.
For the first time, the Commission will conduct both exams within a single month, with less than 20 days between them, accommodating over 1.65 million registered candidates. This decision follows recommendations from a high-level expert committee, which, after examining past judgments on multi-shift exams, proposed an evaluation formula now available to the public.
Similarly, the RO/ARO prelim exam will also be held over two days (December 22 and 23). According to a government order dated June 19, 2024, any exam with over five lakh candidates should be conducted in multiple shifts. With 1,076,004 candidates registered, the UPPSC’s press release confirms this examination will be conducted across two days.
