Meet first female IPS officer of Arunachal Pradesh who cracked UPSC exam with AIR

The aspiration to become an IPS officer is a common dream for many individuals in our nation. The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) examination, recognized as one of the most challenging tests in India, serves as the gateway for realizing this dream. Each year, a substantial number of students undertake the formidable challenge of this competitive exam. With its rigorous nature, only a select few manage to successfully navigate the process, earning the coveted opportunity to join the ranks of civil servants. This narrative highlights the journey of Tenzing Yangki, an IPS officer who, after clearing the 2022 UPSC exam, achieved an impressive All India Rank of 545.

Yangki’s story is not only personally inspiring but also represents a historic milestone, marking her as the first female IPS officer from Arunachal Pradesh. Her unwavering commitment to attaining this prestigious position serves as a beacon of inspiration, particularly for aspiring individuals, especially women.

Remarkably, Yangki hails from a family with a legacy of service in civil roles. Her late father, Thupten Tempa, had served as a minister and made notable contributions to both the Indian Revenue Service and the Indian Administrative Service before entering politics. His distinguished career paved the way for Yangki’s pursuit of public service.

As reported by Northeast Today, Thupten Tempa followed in the footsteps of his father, the late Nyerpa Khow, a pivotal figure as the first political assistant in Tawang. Alongside Major Bob Khathing’s support, Nyerpa Khow played a crucial role in integrating the Tawang region into Indian governance.

Yangki’s accomplishments resonate with her family’s longstanding dedication to public service and their substantial contributions to the nation’s development. Her early commitment to public service was evident when she successfully cleared the Arunachal Pradesh Public Service Commission (APPSC) exam in 2017 before undertaking the UPSC challenge.
