UPSC COMBINED Geo Scientist Examination (CGSE) 2027 Notification Released & Apply Online for 127 Posts
UPSC COMBINED Geo Scientist Examination 2027: The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has released the notification for the Combined Geo-Scientist Examination (CGSE) 2027. The recruitment process is being conducted for 127 tentative vacancies for posts such as Geologist, Geophysicist, Chemist and other Group A and Group B positions in the Geological Survey of India under the Ministry of Mines and the Central Ground Water Board under the Ministry of Jal Shakti. Candidates aged between 21 and 32 years who have the required Master’s degree in Geology, Geophysics, Chemistry, Hydrogeology or a related subject can apply online through the UPSC website. The online application process will be open from 2 September 2026 to 22 September 2026, up to 6:00 PM.
The selection process will be conducted in three stages: the Preliminary Examination, the Main Examination and the Personality Test/Interview. The Preliminary Examination is scheduled for 10 January 2027, while the Main Examination will be held on 19 and 20 June 2027. The current notification is for submitting applications for the Preliminary Examination. The notification has been issued as Examination Notice No. 01/2027-GEOL and File No. 04/01/2026-E.I(B), dated 2 September 2026. The examination will be conducted according to the Rules of the Combined Geo-Scientist Examination 2027, notified by the Ministry of Mines in the Gazette of India on 2 September 2026.

- Geophysicist (Group A): M.Sc. in Physics, Applied Physics, Geophysics, Integrated M.Sc. in Exploration Geophysics, Applied Geophysics, Marine Geophysics, or M.Sc. (Tech.) in Applied Geophysics.
- Scientist ‘B’ (Geophysics), Group A: M.Sc. in Physics, Applied Physics, Geophysics, Integrated M.Sc. in Exploration Geophysics, Applied Geophysics, Marine Geophysics, or M.Sc. (Tech.) in Applied Geophysics.
