
Shakti Dubey has secured the top position in the 2024 Civil Services Examination (CSE), according to an official announcement from the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC). Following her are Harshita Goyal in second place and Dongre Archit Parag in third.
This year, 1009 candidates have been recommended for various civil services positions. These candidates come from different categories, including:
- 335 candidates from the General category
- 109 from Economically Weaker Section (EWS)
- 318 from Other Backward Classes (OBC)
- 160 from Scheduled Caste (SC)
- 87 from Scheduled Tribe (ST)
Additionally, the results of 241 candidates are provisional, while one result is still pending.
Who is Shakti Dubey?
Shakti Dubey, hailing from Prayagraj in Uttar Pradesh, has claimed the All India Rank (AIR) 1 in the UPSC CSE 2024. Her journey to success started after completing her MSc in Biochemistry from Banaras Hindu University (BHU) in 2018, following a BSc in Biochemistry from Allahabad University. She appeared for the UPSC exam with Political Science and International Relations as her optional subject.
Prayagraj, known for its rich educational history, played a key role in shaping Shakti’s academic foundation. In a viral mock interview shared by Chahal Academy, Shakti Dubey shared a glimpse into her background. She mentioned, “I’m from Prayagraj district in Uttar Pradesh. I completed most of my schooling and my undergraduate studies there, earning my Bachelor’s degree from the University of Allahabad. For my post-graduation in Biochemistry, I moved to Banaras Hindu University (BHU) and completed it in 2018. Since then, I’ve been preparing for the Civil Services.”

UPSC Selection Process and Updates
The UPSC selection process for prestigious roles, such as the Indian Administrative Service (IAS) and Indian Police Service (IPS), started with interviews on January 7, 2025. These interviews are for the 2845 candidates who cleared the main exam. The UPSC initially announced 1056 vacancies but later increased this number to 1132 to fill more positions across various services, ensuring a diverse pool of talent in the civil services.
